COPYRIGHT
The basic law of copyright
- Every image a photographer captures is their sole copyright.
- If you purchase a digital image or a print, you have not bought the copyright of that image. It may be used for personal use but must not be used for sponsors or on a commercial website. If such usage is needed you much purchase the appropriate license. Please email us for commercial license rates.
- Photocopying or scanning prints is a violation or the Copyright Act and can result in prosecution. When you buy a print, you have purchased the right to that print only. If you purchase a full resolution digital image, you may make multiple prints of that image
You may use purchased digital images to advertise your Stud or for selling your horse FREE of CHARGE but a credit must be shown by the image that is published: www.equuspix.com. Failure to credit our photographs will result in a €20.00 charge per image
Unauthorised use of images taken from our galleries, and found to be on Social Networking sites, Donedeal or elsewhere, will be charged at €20.00 per image.
Please remember that photographers earn their living by taking photographs! To take images from a website is theft. If you do not like our photographs enough to purchase them, please do not like them enough to steal them! Photographing an event is much more than just that day's work. As soon as we get home we start editing and cataloging images ready to upload to the website. This can take an extra 24 hours work. It is very disheartening when we find that some people decide to just come and help themselves for free. Our costs are high - not only is camera equipment extremely expensive, but staffing costs, travelling etc. must be met as well. Is it unreasonable that we should expect people to NOT steal our images.
We try to keep the watermarking on our galleries as inconspicuous as possible - it is very hard to view an image with a huge watermark, however the more often that we find images on Facebook, Instragram, Done Deal etc, the more we have to increase the size of our watermark.
When we find that images have been illegally copied from a gallery, we then password that gallery so it cannot be opened. We have to do this to protect our work. Not only is image theft a problem, but screen grabbed images that are blown up to a larger size look pixelated and out of focus. This is a bad advertisement for our business. remember that images on the gallery are uploaded at extremely low resolution, so is they are enlarged at all, they will appear to be very poor quality.
